    * Choose a shampoo that is specially formulated for curly hair such as Curvaceous Cream Shampoo.  This fabulous shampoo is low-lathering so you may choose to shampoo twice.
    * Use fingers to “comb” through dry curls to release any tangles and gently massage the shampoo into your hair and scalp
    * Avoid circular or vigorous motions when you shampoo your hair as this can lead to tangles

WHEN CONDITIONING
    * Curly hair loves moisture and conditioning is a must.  Proper conditioning will keep your hair hydrated and looking its best!
    * For wavy, finer, sparser hair types, avoid applying conditioner to the scalp area.  Applying conditioner to the scalp will often add more weight to your hair causing it to be limp with less volume.  Just condition the middle to lower sections of your hair instead.
    * For curlier, coarser, thicker hair types, apply conditioner often and all-over
    * Curvaceous Conditioner by Redken is a great product for curly hair types and it can be used as a leave in conditioner when additional conditioning and curl definition are desired

WHEN WORKING WITH WET HAIR

    * Use fingers as much as possible to detangle hair
    * Use a wide-tooth comb only when necessary. Start from ends and gently comb through lengths to scalp
    * Use a jersey-like or t-shirt-like material when towel-drying hair, and gently wrap or blot your hair dry.
    * Avoid twisting hair tightly in a towel.  Also avoid vigorously rubbing your hair.  Both of these actions can cause fragile hair to break.

WHEN STYLING

    * The curlier and thicker your hair is, the more moisture it needs and the more product it will absorb
    * Product isn’t an option, it’s a necessity!   Begin with a small amount of product and keep layering until desired shape and structure are achieved.
   * When possible, let your hair air dry instead of using the blow dryer.  High heat from blow dryers can sap precious moisture from your hair.  If you must use a blow dryer, then choose a dryer with a temperature gauge and use the cool setting.   Use the lowest air flow and aim the current of hair downward from the top of your head to help prevent frizz.
